What makes Concordian different

Trilingual from day one. Most “bilingual” international schools in Thailand teach a single foreign language as a subject. Concordian delivers core instruction across three languages — English, Mandarin Chinese, and Thai — from Pre-Kindergarten. Students who take Chinese or Thai in IB Group 1 are eligible for the IB Bilingual Diploma.

Full IB continuum. Concordian is authorized to deliver all three International Baccalaureate programmes — PYP (since 5 July 2004), MYP (since 5 June 2007), and the Diploma Programme (since 25 March 2008). Students can complete their entire K-12 education in one coherent inquiry-based framework.

On the Bangkok border. The Concordian campus sits in Bang Phli district, just 100 metres from the Bangkok provincial line off Bangna-Trad Highway at km. 7. This places the school within Greater Bangkok for daily commuting — 15 to 25 minutes from the Sukhumvit corridor and approximately 20 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport — while sitting outside central Bangkok traffic. Concordian is the closest full IB-continuum trilingual international school to the eastern Bangkok residential clusters of Bangna, Bearing, On Nut, and Sri Nakarin, and serves families based on the Eastern Seaboard.

Leadership

Concordian has been led by Head of School and Chief Executive Officer Laurent Goetschmann since 2014, and he has been with the school since 2004. His tenure spans the school’s authorization across all three IB programmes, the development of its trilingual English-Mandarin-Thai curriculum, and a 100 percent Grade 12 graduation rate every year since the school’s first graduating class.

Programmes

Concordian delivers all three International Baccalaureate programmes as a single coherent K-12 continuum:

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) — Pre-K to Grade 5

Inquiry-based learning through six transdisciplinary themes. Authorized by the IB Organization on 5 July 2004. Trilingual instruction with dedicated time blocks for English, Mandarin, and Thai literacy.

IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) — Grades 6 to 10

Concept-driven curriculum across eight subject groups. Authorized on 5 June 2007. Personal Project completed in Grade 10.

IB Diploma Programme (DP) — Grades 11 and 12

Authorized on 25 March 2008. Six subject groups plus the IB core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, Creativity-Activity-Service). Concordian is a May examining school; results are released in early July. Students taking Chinese or Thai in Group 1 are eligible for the IB Bilingual Diploma; self-taught Language A is also available at Standard Level in a student’s native language.

The Diploma Programme spans six subject groups covering English, Thai, and Chinese Literature and Language and Literature; English B, Mandarin B, and Mandarin / Spanish / French ab initio; Business Management, Digital Society, Economics, Environmental Systems and Societies, Geography, History, Psychology; Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Physics, Sports/Exercise/Health Science; both Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation; and Film, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Literature and Performance. Academic Outcomes

Concordian publishes a transparent annual Class Profile. Aggregate results across the seventeen graduating classes from 2010 to 2026:

• Class of 2026 (record year): a school-record IB Diploma average of 37 points against a worldwide average of 30.88, with 95 percent of candidates awarded the IB Diploma, 33 percent of the cohort scoring 40 points or higher, and two students each earning a perfect score of 45.
• 100 percent Grade 12 graduation rate every year since the first graduating class in 2010.
• 510 graduates between 2010 and 2026, including 42 in the Class of 2026; 498 matriculated directly to university (all 42 of the Class of 2026 among them), the remainder taking planned gap years.
• IB Diploma average of 35-36 points typical, with class averages ranging from 32 to 37 over the period.
• IB Diploma average above the worldwide IB average every year for seventeen consecutive years, by approximately +4.7 points on average.
• Maximum 45 point IB Diploma score earned by Concordian students in the Classes of 2010, 2022, 2024, and 2026 (two students in 2026).

College Counselling

Concordian uses BridgeU as its college counselling platform. Counselling begins in Middle School with MYP counsellors and intensifies through High School. The college counselling team are members of NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) and International ACAC.
